Retail and e-commerce transport — including at the peak of the campaign

Retail does not have a transport problem, it has a calendar problem. For eleven months of the year the volumes are predictable, and in November they triple overnight — exactly when the market has the fewest free trucks. Capacity for the campaign is discussed in September, not in the second week of November.

Usual unit
From a single pallet to a full truck
Peak season
November — January, with volatile prices and availability
Receiving
Booked slot at the warehouse, fixed window at a mall
CMR liability
SDR 8.33/kg of the weight short
Trucks

Which truck I use for retail and e-commerce transport

Groupage

For small restocking runs and for individual shops. You pay the loading metres you occupy.

Standard curtainsider trailer

For transfers between warehouses and hubs, 33 euro pallets.

Truck of 7.5–12 t with a tail lift

For shops in shopping centres and city centres, where an articulated truck cannot get in.

Van

For parcels, returns and urgent stock top-ups.

Cargo

What cargo usually travels this way

  • Shop restocking, palletised or in cartons
  • Stock transfers between warehouses and hubs
  • Campaign goods: Black Friday, Christmas, back to school
  • Customer returns and goods withdrawn from the shelf
  • Shop fittings and display materials
  • Packaging, bags and shop consumables
Fit

When to choose this option

  • 01 You have a campaign and want capacity reserved before the market tightens.
  • 02 You transfer between warehouses and need regular runs at a contract price.
  • 03 You deliver to shops in a mall, with a fixed access window.
  • 04 You have returns to collect, not only deliveries to make.
Documents

Which documents you need

The papers below are the ones I ask for or check myself before loading. If you are missing one, tell me at the start and we will sort it out.

  1. 1

    Goods accompanying note or CMR

Accompanying note domestically, CMR internationally. On transfers between warehouses of the same company, the accompanying note is mandatory.

  2. 2

    Invoice

On deliveries to third parties. On internal transfers, the accompanying note takes its place.

  3. 3

    Packing list

Effectively mandatory in groupage and on runs delivering to several shops.

  4. 4

    Signed proof of delivery

Scanned and sent the same day, because in retail the settlement depends on it.

FAQ

What people ask me about retail and e-commerce transport

Can you deliver into a shopping centre?

Yes, but almost every mall has an access window and weight restrictions at the goods ramp. Tell me the mall and the window, and I pick the truck that fits — often a 7.5 t with a tail lift, not an articulated one.

How early should capacity be booked for Black Friday?

For November, in September. By the second half of October prices are already 30–50% above normal and availability drops. If you give me your estimated volumes early, I can fix a price that holds.

Do you collect returns from shops as well?

Yes, return runs are scheduled along with the delivery, not separately. Planned from the start, they cost far less than a dedicated empty run.

Tell me the route. I will send you a firm price.

It takes under a minute to fill in, or you can just call me. I check availability with carriers and come back with a firm quote, with no hidden costs at unloading.
