Oversized

Oversized transport — planned in advance, not improvised on the road

Beyond the legal dimensions, transport stops being a question of an available truck and becomes a question of permits and of route. Every country has its own thresholds and its own issuing times. That is why oversized transport is prepared weeks ahead, not two days ahead.

Usual legal thresholds
Over 2.55 m wide · 4 m high · 16.5 m long
Weight
Over 40 t gross, depending on configuration
Permit lead time
From 5 working days, per country crossed
Recommended preparation
2–4 weeks before loading
Trucks

Which truck I use for oversized transport

Extendable trailer

For long structures: beams, columns, turbine blades.

Low loader (lowbed)

For tall machinery, where every centimetre counts at bridges and underpasses.

Modular axle platform

For heavy loads, with controlled distribution across the axles.

Escort and accompaniment

Pilot vehicles and, where the law requires it, police escort.

Cargo

What cargo usually travels this way

  • Construction and agricultural machinery
  • Industrial equipment and production lines
  • Steel structures and precast elements
  • Transformers and power equipment
  • Tanks and large vessels
  • Wind energy components
Fit

When to choose this option

  • 01 The cargo exceeds 2.55 m in width, 4 m in height or 16.5 m in length.
  • 02 The gross weight exceeds the legal limits for a standard configuration.
  • 03 You have an installation deadline and cannot afford a surprise at a border.
Documents

Which documents you need

The papers below are the ones I ask for or check myself before loading. If you are missing one, tell me at the start and we will sort it out.

  1. 1

    Special transport permit

Issued separately by every country crossed. Lead times differ widely between states.

  2. 2

    Route survey

It checks bridges, underpasses, roundabouts and overhead lines along the whole route.

  3. 3

Technical drawing with dimensions and lifting points

You get it from the machine manufacturer. Without it the transport cannot be sized.

  4. 4

    Securing and lashing plan

Calculated for the real weight and centre of gravity.

  5. 5

    CMR and invoice

The usual transport documents, plus the technical annexes.

FAQ

What people ask me about oversized transport

How long do the permits take?

From 5 working days for a single country, but on routes crossing several states it easily reaches 2–4 weeks. Tell me early and we plan it together.

Why do you need the technical drawing?

To settle the type of trailer, the lifting points and the final transport height. Without the real dimensions, any price would be a guess.

Can it travel at night?

Often it must. Some permits allow movement only within certain hours and outside weekends.

Tell me the route. I will send you a firm price.

It takes under a minute to fill in, or you can just call me. I check availability with carriers and come back with a firm quote, with no hidden costs at unloading.
