Heating equipment transport — heavy, fragile and tied to an installation date

Heating equipment is an awkward combination: heavy per package, fragile to vibration and almost always tied to an installation date. A scratched boiler can still be fitted; a PV panel with micro-cracks does not show it is broken until the output drops. So the securing is discussed before loading, not improvised at the dock.

Usual weight per package
30–400 kg for boilers and water heaters
Transport position
Upright for water heaters, flat and on edge for panels
Peak season
August — November, ahead of the heating season
CMR liability
SDR 8.33/kg of the weight short
Trucks

Which truck I use for heating equipment transport

Truck with a tail lift

For deliveries to installers, shops and sites with no forklift. Heavy packages come down under control instead of rolling.

Standard curtainsider trailer

For large volumes between depots, secured in rows and with dividers.

Flatbed or oversized trailer

For industrial boilers, tanks and equipment beyond standard dimensions.

Dry van

For electronics, controls and spare parts sensitive to damp.

Cargo

What cargo usually travels this way

  • Wall-hung and floor-standing boilers
  • Water heaters, buffer tanks and storage vessels
  • Radiators and heating emitters
  • Photovoltaic and solar thermal panels
  • Heat pumps and outdoor units
  • Spare parts, controls and installation accessories
Fit

When to choose this option

  • 01 You have an installation date and the equipment must be there before the crew.
  • 02 The packages are heavy and there is no forklift at destination.
  • 03 You ship photovoltaic panels, where an invisible crack means lost output.
  • 04 The equipment exceeds standard dimensions and needs permits.
Documents

Which documents you need

The papers below are the ones I ask for or check myself before loading. If you are missing one, tell me at the start and we will sort it out.

  1. 1

    CMR or goods accompanying note

The basic document. I fill it in; you sign at loading.

  2. 2

    Commercial invoice

    Matching the goods actually loaded.

  3. 3

    Equipment data sheet

Weight, dimensions and transport position. Without it, the securing is done by eye — and on heavy equipment that shows at destination.

  4. 4

    Special transport permit

Only for equipment beyond the legal dimensions. Obtained beforehand, not on the day of loading.

FAQ

What people ask me about heating equipment transport

How are photovoltaic panels carried so micro-cracks do not appear?

In the manufacturer's original packaging, on edge and not laid flat on top of each other, with the pallet secured so it cannot move under braking. Micro-cracks are invisible to the eye and come precisely from vibration on the road, so the securing matters more than the speed.

Can you carry a large industrial boiler?

Yes, but beyond the legal dimensions it becomes oversized transport: route permits, possibly escort, and a route survey. Send me the real dimensions and the weight and I will tell you up front what lead time and what cost that means.

Do you deliver straight to the end customer's address?

Yes, with a tail lift truck. Tell me whether there is truck access at the address and whether unloading happens at the kerb or in the yard, because both change the choice of truck.

Tell me the route. I will send you a firm price.

It takes under a minute to fill in, or you can just call me. I check availability with carriers and come back with a firm quote, with no hidden costs at unloading.
